Transformers - part 2

December 2011 and our Boxercise Christmas drinks in one of my favorite pubs in Kentish Town "The Lion & Unicorn". This is where I spoke to Simon and Talya our next future transformers.

The timing couldn't be more perfect as this was about four months before their big day! Their wedding!
I approached Simon and  asked him if he would like to completely transform his body for the upcoming event? At first he wasn't very convinced, he knew it would be hard work, lots of commitment and dedication but after a few words of encouragement from my side, he was in! So was Talya his fiancee, as this was a great opportunity for both of them to get into the best shape ever for their wedding.

The first two weeks of the challenge started with a detox to eliminate as many toxins as possible and allow the detoxification organs of the body (Digestive system, kidneys, liver, skin, urinary and respiratory) to do their work more efficiently.

Three times a week, weight training with a lot of compound exercises that involved large muscle groups and a very healthy and balanced meal plan that consisted of 40% protein, 40% healthy fat and 20% carbohydrates. Set amount of calories on training and non training day. Five to six meals a day, lots of water and good sleep. The results speak for themselves.

Both Simon and Talya started the challenge as a team. They joined forces and decided to give it their absolute best to achieve the goal of losing weight and getting in the best shape possible for the wedding. They shared the experience together and supported each other on the way.

Before taking up on the 12 weeks transformation challenge Talya had very little gym experience. She was a member of a gym but never really used it apart from an odd treadmill session once in a while. She never tried lifting any weights as she had no idea how to use them plus was always scared of bulking up and getting bigger. 
Her 12 weeks program consisted mainly of weight exercises. We started from scratch; posture correction, static stability, flexibility, movement based training, balance etc.13 weeks later (she was away for one week) and Talya is a confident and regular gym user. 

She lost 10kg, 2 dress sizes (14 down to 10) and 4.5" off her waist.

They both had to buy completely new clothes and get rid of the old ones for good. With new wardrobes came new habits, they both continue the healthy meal plan with only occasional treats. Cooking and preparing food is now an everyday routine and leading a healthy lifestyle is now a pleasure rather than punishment.

Days after completing the 12 weeks challenge Simon and Talya got happily married. 
They had a week off in Italy and are now back in the gym still training hard and eating healthily. We have since set new goals and new challenges and are now working towards achieving them before their honeymoon in November.



I would like to thank both Simon and Talya for making big changes to their lifestyles and putting a lot of effort and hard work into this challenge. It genuinely was a pleasure to work with them and I hope what they achieved will inspire others to set out new goals and work towards them every day!

Transformers - part 1

Michael after 12 weeks
Julian and Michael started their 12 week body transformation program on January 9th 2012.  It was a very busy start to the New Year, as I had to prepare the 12 week personalized and periodised programs and meal plans, and it stayed busy as I took weekly photos and measurements and collected all the data. I was also on call so to speak to keep the guys in check with what they were eating, how much sleep they were getting, reminding them to hydrate and of course training them in my studio 3 times a week. I basically did anything I could to keep them motivated.

Initially, it was hard for them to adapt to regular exercise and eating more.  Yes they were eating more on my plans than they were originally, and yet they lost weight and huge amounts of body fat. They were training only 3 hours a week and their training consisted of high intensity circuit weight training and NO cardio! Michael was additionally attending my boxing class every Saturday.

 
12 weeks later on March 26th they both completed their programs with brand new physiques. Julian lost 5.5kg and 10% body fat and Michael lost 14kg and 13% body fat.

 They both feel great about such a huge achievement and the fact that they finally both got their six packs

Days after the challengee, Michael became the happiest man on the planet and a father to his lovely daughter Darcy.

It was a pleasure for me to train these guys and see how much effort, hard work, motivation and dedication they've put in, so massive THANK YOU! It payed off and proved that if you really serious about getting the body you want there is no excuses and actually 12 weeks might seem like forever but in fact it goes so quickly that you look back and think 'I am so glad i did it!'
