Transformers - part 3

Another client of mine and another 12 week body transformation back in 2012. Jean Vincent has trained with me for quite a while now and the reason he started was to learn boxing, improve his general fitness and tone up his body.
When I told him about my body transformation idea he loved it and decided he wanted to be one of the transformers.
This was a perfect challenge for JV as he needed a specific visual goal to get him on track with his food and lifestyle. He also became a father to his little girl so getting fit, healthy and full of energy was his priority.

We started the process with a two weeks detox plan to get his body ready. It was a struggle at the beginning as it required dramatic changes to his lifestyle. First and foremost cooking and preparing all of his meals. No pre packaged microwaved food, no sweets, no junk food, no refined carbs. All fresh, organic, good quality produce. Meat, fish, vegetables, berries and nuts were pretty much his diet throughout the whole 12 weeks of the transformation.

It paid off! The changes were huge. First few weeks were all about detoxifying his body and getting rid of cravings, allergies, gut inflammation and restoring energy to the body.
It was also about getting a plan into action. Main principles were: planning days in advance, preparing  food shopping and sticking to the list of allowable foods and cooking the meals.

It sounds like a big hassle but once you get in a routine of doing these things, everything else falls into place. You know how many meals you should have in a day, you know what time you should have your meals, you have them all cooked and prepared and you just stick to the plan.
Your training sessions are all booked in advance at the same time every week. Now your life is more organized and you have more time for everything else and you save money by not spending on all those things that get you out of shape in the first place.

Training sessions were tailored specifically to JV's goals and needs. High intensity whole body circuits using large muscle groups, compound movements to burn a lot of calories and lifting heavy weights to put the muscle on and shed the fat off.
The sessions were very hard, but because he only trained three times a week, he was in bed by 10.30pm every night, he was eating regularly, drinking plenty of water and his diet included everything his body needed to be fully recovered so he was ready to push harder every single session. Every week he had more energy and was more motivated and dedicated to reaching his goal of a lean and healthy body.

Half way through the transformation JV decided that he would like to set himself another challenge after we had finished getting his perfect body. He signed up for a half marathon and finished it with the time of 1h45min. JV on the finish line (32s)

Over the 12 weeks transformation JV lost 6kg and  7% of body fat. The goal was to keep the muscle on and reveal the six pack.

                                                    Changes over 12 weeks:

Here we are 12 weeks later on the day of the photo shoot. About to pump up to get the best visual effects of his new defined physique.

...and here JV in action pumping some iron :)

It was a pleasure to work with Jean Vincent and to see him changing over the 12 weeks. We had a lot of fun on the way and finished with a great success under the belt. As a trainer I am very proud of him and his achievement.

Many thanks

Martin
